The hearing, which began in 2019, ended NSO with the victory of Meta*who accused US of violating the laws of cyber security. Pegasus allowed journalists, activists and officials to monitor the data, and to activate cameras or microphones.
The NSO group, known for their instruments for governments, claimed that Pegasus was used to combat terrorism and crime. However, the court admitted that the company illegally benefited from WhatsApp’s security vulnerabilities. The decision includes 167.25 million dollars and compensation payments of $ 444,719. Judge Filis Hamilton said that NSO has escaped from the provision of Pegasus source code that complexes the process.
NSO plans to object to the decision.
