At Saratov State University, an artificial neuron was developed to simulate the work of nerve cells. This device produces electrical impulses similar to those who use neurons to transmit signals. The uniqueness of development in a simplified scheme of only seven elements as much as half of the analogs. You can adjust the frequency and shape of the impulses by changing the parameters of the chain that makes the universal for research and medical technologies.

According to scientists led by Professor Vladimir Ponomarenko, this development can accelerate the creation of neuroprosthesis that replaces damaged nerve cells. In addition, artificial neurons will find applications in robotics in which more complex sensory systems can become the basis. The simplicity and accuracy of the device remains affordable in production and allows you to effectively imitate biological processes.

Now the team is trying to create such a network of neurons to simulate the complex conditions of the brain. This will not only help to examine the nature of neurodegenerative diseases, but also to present new approaches to its treatments. Development opens expectations of creating more effective neuros and medical implants that can replace the damaged areas of the nervous system.
