According to Digital Foundry, this amount of memory is required to support machine education and algorithms similar to the PlayStation Spectral Super resolution (PSSR) used in modern PS5 Pro models.
The PS6 is expected to use chips with AMD 3D glass technology developed as part of the Amethyst project. This technology will probably become an important component of the new console and provide better resolution, a clearer graphic and lower delays.
Although the exact features of the PS6 have not yet been announced, analysts suggest that the console will not be completely digital and will maintain the support of physical discs. The official announcement of the new platform can be realized in the coming years and considering the traditional Sony console renewal cycle, the version is closer to 2028.
