The Institute of Ecology and the Institute of Genetics of Microorganisms have found a way of helping to fight against oxide graphene cancer cells from the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Perm State University. Researchers found that the nanoparticles of this substance could activate immune cells in size of 100 to 200 nanometer and help them produce substances to destroy tumors. These results were made on the basis of experiments with the cellular leukemia model.

Grafen Oxide, a special carbon form, attracted the attention of scientists because of its unique features. Initially, it was accepted as a means of giving drugs, but it turned out that he had antitumor properties. The use of graphene nanoparticles is safer than traditional chemotherapy, because such materials do not cause serious side effects.

Researchers believe that their discoveries can be a step towards the creation of new cancer treatment methods. In addition to increasing the immune response, scientists stressed that a small amount of graphene nanoparticle contributed to the survival of the cells of the immune system. These results open expectations for the development of more effective and safe approaches in oncology.
