Scientists from the Electrophysics Institute of Ural Federal University and Russian Academy of Sciences Electrophysics developed a unique preventive coating for air motor parts. The new material of silicone, aluminum, carbon and nitrogen provides reliable protection against oxidation even at extreme high temperatures. Development is characterized by low synthesis temperature (up to 400 ° C) with significant hardness and rapid accumulation rate, making production more economical and durable.

The coating was created using hybrid technology that combines the evaporation of aluminum and plasma activation of the silicone premise. This approach provides hardness and perfect intense structure up to 31 GPA, which can be compared with diamond -like coatings to the material. Unlike traditional methods that require temperatures above 1000 ° C and the formation of defects, this method allows you to apply protective layers to alloying materials such as polycarbonate. Researchers stressed that the speed of application of the coating reached 10 micrometers per hour, which was much faster than the standard methods.

In the future, scientists plan to adapt technologies for gas turbines, jet engines and other industries. In parallel, they have developed another type of coating that changes its resistance to electricity under external influence, which can become the basis for creating new sensitive pressure and temperature sensors. This opens expectations not only for aviation, but also for industrial areas where reliability and economy are important.
