The president of Roscosmos Dmitry Minister, the first stage, said that 300 satellites will be orbit and the remaining 586 will be taken in the second stage of the project. The purpose of the program is to create a Russian Starlink analogue for wide band internet access.
The system must provide a fixed connection in the hard and remote areas of the country. Similar projects are already implemented by many countries, including the United States, Britain and China.
The Dawn project will be the largest satellite group in the history of the Russian Cosmonautics and can play a key role in ensuring the digital sovereignty and independence of the telecom infrastructure.
