The new method was tested on the Luga River. Scientists developed a non -invasive system that allowed you to correct the heart rhythm of snails without damaging. This helps to determine how environmental conditions – for example, water temperature – affect their health.
In addition, experts measured the heavy metal level in the fabrics of the softness and the silt at the bottom of the river. Such an integrated approach has made it possible to determine the parts of the river in which the environmental situation caused concern and required observation.
Experts say that the proposed technique can use to monitor pollution in other reservoirs of Russia’s northwestern region.
