Agreements were concluded with energy suppliers Indiana Michigan Power and Tennessee Valley Authority. Within the framework of the agreements, Google undertakes to reduce the energy consumption of data centers at the request of network operators during the most intense demand periods. This will temporarily release power and prevent overloads.

These are the first official agreements of the company in participation in the so -called “demand management programs”, which was previously used mainly in industry and crypto currencies. Such schemes help power engineers to distribute new transformer centers and power lines more effectively without the need for emergency construction.

A sharp increase in interests and technologies has led to the fact that technological giants, including Google, began to offer many applications to combine new centers that exceed the possibilities of networks in some parts of the United States. This causes concerns about the growth and discreation of tariffs for ordinary consumers.
