In a thread on the YouTube channel TheSpyHood, experts have found which build is best suited for modern games at 1440p and 4K: the i5-12400 with DDR5 memory or the i7-11700K with DDR4 memory. Both builds were tested at ultra graphics settings.

Spider-Man Remastered ran at 1440p with average frame rates in the region of 172fps (i5-12400 + DDR5) and 168fps (i7-11700K + DDR4) at 4K – 129fps and 128fps.

Average performance in Call of Duty Vanguard was 174 fps and 177 fps at 1440p (i5-12400 + DDR5 and i7-11700K + DDR4, respectively), 4K – 119 fps and 121 fps.

God of War ran at 1440p with an average of 99 fps (i5 + DDR5) and 101 fps (i7 + DDR4) FPS at 4K – 77 and 75 fps.

Battlefield 2042 ran at 1440p with an average performance of 114 fps and 117 fps (i5 + DDR5 and i7 + DDR4). We managed to get 78fps and 81fps respectively in this game in 4K.

Forza Horizon 5 ran at 127 fps (i5-12400 + DDR5) and 132 fps (i7-11700K + DDR4) at 1440p and 87 fps and 84 fps at 4K, respectively.

Far Cry 6 ran at 1440p with an average frame rate of 112 fps (i5 + DDR5) and 119 fps (i7 + DDR4) at 4K – 77 fps and 79 fps.

Average FPS in Village Resident Evil at 1440p was 173 fps and 175 fps (i5-12400 + DDR5 and i7-11700K + DDR4) at 4K – 116 fps and 119 fps.

Horizon Zero Dawn ran at 1440p with an average of 124 fps (i5 and DDR5 memory) and 127 fps (i7 and DDR4 memory). Performance at 4K resolution was 82 fps and 80 fps.

In Days Gone we managed to average 141 fps (i5-12400 + DDR5) and 145 fps (i7-11700K + DDR4) at 1440p, 86 fps and 90 fps at 4K.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ran at 76fps and 78fps at 4K, with FPS averaging 104fps and 101fps (i5-12400 + DDR5 and i7-11700K + DDR4) at 1440p (i5-12400 + DDR5 and i7-11700K + DDR4, respectively).

Cyberpunk 2077 ran at 99 fps (i5 + DDR5) and 103 fps (i7 + DDR4) at 1440p, 72 fps and 69 fps at 4K.

For games of the two builds tested, both options are actually suitable. The performance difference across all 11 games was pretty negligible: 1.5% (131 fps and 133 fps) at 1440p and 91 fps average FPS in both cases at 4K.
