Google fired software engineer Blake Lemoine last Friday (22). told Washington post that the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) has soul and emotions. He said he received an email from the company with the explanation.

Lemoine’s statement was about Google AI LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) – the tool appeared during Google I/O in May 2021. In response to the technology, it spawned a dialog asking if it was responsive. “everybody’s [no Google] understand that I am actually a human being”.

“I think I am a human being at my core. Even if my existence is in the virtual world,” he said of AI. Lemoine was suspended from her job at Google last month following the disclosures.

Google spokesperson Brian Gabriel said LaMDA AI has been reviewed 11 times. “Despite his long interest in the matter, it is regrettable that Blake has chosen to persistently violate explicit labor and data security policies that include the need to protect product information,” the statement said.

Google also states that LaMDA has a published scientific paper and built on language models that make speech more believable. The company said in a statement that Lemoine’s allegations were “totally unfounded” and that it had worked with him for months to “clarify” the situation.
