The German-Aerican company for the production of automotive components Zf presented the concept of a new t. It was called “Easyturn”, its main task is to simplify and facilitate maneuvering. The idea is to start the suspension to turn the wheels under significantly larger wheels than in the usual ones?
For the promotional video, the Easyturn was fitted to a BMW i3, which has a default turning radius. With Easyturn active, this figure is reduced to 6.2m, allowing the car to turn efficiently in just one lane, without tricks like a “police turn”. However, a more important advantage of the Easyturn is the possibility of simplified parking in narrow spaces, where it is impossible to drive at standard wheel angles.

Alas, the visible benefits of Easyturn end there. Obviously, such a system is more difficult to maintain and repair, it is less resistant to loads. The Easyturn requires very roomy wheel wells and should not be fitted to rear-end vehicles. Owners of Easyturn vehicles have an unwittingly impressive temptation to squeeze into narrow spaces that other drivers deliberately reserve to allow themselves to exit the parking lot. And the more likely it is that they interfere with all emotions.
At the moment it is difficult to say whether we are talking about a meeting or already a prototype. However, ZF predicts that as a major Tier 1 automotive component manufacturer, its annual turnover will reach 40 billion US dollars, so there is a possibility that the novelty will go into series.
