Among the many features that Instagram announced last week in it’s a way to become more and more like TikTokone thing was especially amazing: from now on, anyone could use our photos and videos to include them in the Instagram Reels remix without prior approval.
A move that is not so surprising in the context of this hasty tiktokization, but it does cause a serious and natural reluctance. Why would anyone take our images to use them in a video whose purpose is unknown to us? Fortunately, there is a way around this.
How to prevent your images from being featured in Instagram reels
As usual in such cases, prevent anyone from using our images in their own Instagram videos we have to be active. And the fact is that this feature is enabled by default, and instead of selecting it, we will have to deselect it.
This is a classic move by those who want to keep as many users as possible within a new feature, because it is obvious that this is the case.
But, as we have pointed out, there is a remedy. And it’s very simple. If you want to prevent anyone from using your images in their Instagram remixes, just follow these steps:
- Go to section Parameter in the Instagram app.
- Go to section Confidentiality.
- Press Rollers and remixes
- Here we will see a number of options. In them, we will be able to explain the degree of restriction that we want to place on our images for use in third-party content. In case you don’t want we uncheck all boxes.
As you can see in the last image, the options we’re shown give access to “anyone who creates videos that include your videos or photos and uploads them as part of a remix.”
Maybe the point is that we want some of the photos we upload to be excluded, but we agree that the rest are used. In this case, we can mark it separately in the “More” menu in each message.
