Meet new characters from the saga of star Wars (since 1977), as Jyn Erso in Felicity Jones and Her Friends in outcast one (2016) or the bounty hunter played by Pedro Pascal, little Grog and company in The Mandalorian (as of 2019), these galactic adventures are worth making a real difference. But we also understand that we are being offered mini-series like Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022): Mythical characters attract audiences.
Especially if he Jedi plays a scot Ewan McGregor during the George Lucas prequel trilogy (1999-2005) after Alec Guinness’s work in original feature films and, now, in six episodes directed by Canadian Deborah Chow, he is accompanied by Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader. The former, along with the director and Moses Ingram, who plays Inquisitor Reva, answered a few questions for us at an international press conference.
“For many years I have been asked about two things: if i did a sequel Trainspotting [1996] and yes Ever would play Obi-Wan Kenobi again”, says Ewan McGregor to the media in Spain. “Those were always the last two questions, as the publicist stuck his head in the door and said, ‘That’s the last question.'” And, in truth, confirmed both possibilities, and therefore the desire of many viewers: thanks to the Mark Renton sequel and the Disney + mini-series.
Ewan McGregor restored the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi
The famous company that owns Lucasfilm “asked him to come to a meeting one day because they kept seeing on social media that he would like to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again,” the actor continues, “like he was begging for a job at Disney Gate. “” and “they asked him if he was serious and he said yes. Someone who could be a Christian in Moulin rouge (2001) or young Ed Bloom from big fish (2003) Eager to Return to the Gentleman Jedi.
And the scripts satisfied him: “The script was so good (…), because from the very beginning, in all his things, Alec Guinness could say them for me. So I knew we were on the right track.” At least not with its main character. But, to regain his voice, he had to work hard: “I just made a kind [acento] vague English, and it wasn’t really Obi-Wan’s voice at all. And I’m like, “Oh, honey. This is not good””.
“Luckily, we had months before we started filming, so I went back and did my homework with Alec Guinness, which I did before in movies. [precuelas] originals”, exposes Ewan McGregor, for whom it was very nice to meet Hayden Christensen again. “When I saw him again and was able to talk to him about this project, it was very, very exciting. And when we performed together, it was really like a time warp.”
A six-episode series that feels like one movie

One of the biggest differences What did the British translator take about the prequels? star Wars it’s connected with digital cameras of the time, very noisy: “In post-production, they realized that the noise they were making exactly matched the frequency of the human voice,” so they had to duplicate the dialogue, which did not survive, “because the cameras were brand new.” And, “compared to what we’re doing now, it’s like day and night.”
Not so much when it comes to TV format, on the other hand: “Beauty that [Obi-Wan Kenobi] the series is that we have more time to tell the story,” says Ewan McGregor. “But since Deborah Chow was in charge of all [los capítulos], and this is his unique vision in everything, it seemed that we were just making a film. D episodic nature of our series fits very well with the plot“. The next day 27 we will check on Disney+.
