The study, published in Nature Magazine, showed that the minerals in a characteristic model of the genus are called “leopard stains” of NASA. These points contain two minerals containing iron: vivianit (hydrate iron phosphate) and graigit (iron sulfide). On earth, vivianit is usually found in precipitation, swamps and rotting organic substances.
NASA stated that these minerals may be “microbial life permit, but that their formation has non -biological methods – with the participation of high temperatures, acid conditions or organic compounds.
The discovery in relatively young Sedimentary rocks suggests that the life on Mars may be longer or later than previously taken into consideration.
According to Sean Duffy, the head of NASA, this is the “closest” we came to life on Mars. “The agency plans to share data with scientists to verify the biological origin of minerals. In the future, the task will deliver examples for more detailed analysis to the Earth.
