Senators Chuck Grassley and Dick Durbin, H-1B visa and Americans, including wages and benefits between employees, *Amazon, *Meta, Apple, Google and Microsoft’s personnel selection strategies asked for information.
These demands called Grassley’s internal security minister Christie Noem to stop allowing foreign students, especially Indian to work, and to consider them the cause of unemployment among national security and higher education Americans. He also requested a statement about the legal reasons for giving these permissions.
Senators, unemployment in the technological sector is higher than the average in the country, he said. Amazon sponsored a maximum H-1B visa in 2024 despite the collective layoffs. In 2022-2023, Meta fired one quarter of the employees and plans new discounts when hiring a large number of employees with H-1B visa. Google also expelled employees against the record floor.
Senators stated why companies could not find qualified American workers and demanded a response until October 10th. If Noem Grassley fulfills its requirement, it will limit students from India to work in the USA.
