The company acknowledged that even with regular operating system and driver updates, virus scans, and free space, some built-in features can reduce performance.
The main culprit is OneDrive syncing. According to Microsoft, the constant updating of cloud data in the background allows file access and backup from any device, but also puts a strain on the system.
Developers recommend pausing synchronization temporarily to see if the speed improves.
Another reason is Windows 11’s visual effects: animations, shadows and transparency. They make the interface more beautiful, but they require more RAM.
For weaker computers, Microsoft recommends turning on “Get the best performance” in the “Performance Options” section.
The company also recalled other optimization methods – managing the paging file and disabling unnecessary programs at startup.
