TikTok is testing allowing its users to leave a dislike for comments that could be considered “irrelevant or inappropriate.” The platform did not clearly explain what action to take, but the number of dislikes is expected to serve to indicate that these comments will be removed in the future.

“In addition to our efforts to proactively remove abusive and hateful content or behavior that violates our Community Guidelines, we continue to explore new ways to help our community have more control over comments,” the company said.

According to TikTok, only the person who flagged the comment will be able to see the action that will serve to improve “well-being” on the platform. However, the company did not clarify when it would be possible to observe the impact of this attitude in interactions in the comments section.

For the platform, community feedback will be added to a number of factors already used to keep the comments section more relevant, while avoiding causing unrest among community members or demoralizing creators.
