The attackers carried out a cyber attack and captured the photos, names and addresses of approximately 8 thousand children. The attack was carried out using ransomware, which was discovered by cybersecurity company Action Fraud on September 25.

Criminals operating under the name Radiant demanded a ransom of £600,000 and published 20 child profiles on the dark web in a bid to force Kido to give in to their demands. They later announced that all captured data had been completely destroyed. A spokesman for Kido praised police for their efforts and reiterated continued cooperation with law enforcement.
