xAI, a company known for chatbot Grok, recently opened its own gaming division. Musk said the studio’s goal is to “make games great again,” implying that the industry is tired of big publishers and generic projects.
However, experts doubt that artificial intelligence can create a full-fledged AAA game without human participation. According to NVIDIA Vice President of Research Brian Catanzaro, even the most advanced neural networks cannot yet replace the work of designers, artists, and programmers.
However, technology is rapidly evolving and AI is already being used to speed up content production, procedural generation, and imaging.
Musk is confident that Grok has the capacity to “make a breakthrough” and calls the project “the beginning of a new era in game development.”
