Bentonite is a natural mineral that can absorb moisture and form a dense gel. Thanks to these features, it has been used in construction and industry for a long time. Now scientists have found a way to change its structure to increase porosity and activity.
The developed sample can recover and maintain its properties. In the future, it can be used not only in the purification of petroleum products from olefins, but also in alkylation reactions commonly used in organic synthesis.
Initially, production in small batches is planned for scientific institutions and chemical industry enterprises. The press service stated that in the future they want to expand the project for industrial use in oil refineries.
