Typhlocommentation is a technique that describes visual scenes with words, replacing visual images with detailed descriptions.
Astronauts have undergone special training to accurately and clearly convey their impressions of the Earth from space. They described our planet’s mountains, deserts and atmosphere, taking into account the speed of the ISS (about 8 km/s).
The project was implemented by Roscosmos together with the “Uncertain View” program of the Foundation for Arts, Science and Sports. It is planned to release a series of videos with audio commentary by the end of 2025, including about rocket launches from Baikonur and the operation of ISS modules.
