Tesla has announced that navigation for all its vehicles ordered after July 20, 2022 will become payable.

For the first 8 years of owning a car, navigation will be free. After this time expires, cars start a monthly subscription.

The company did not disclose the cost of the subscription. Navigation is included in the Standard Connectivity package. All other advanced Tesla features (live cameras, karaoke, satellite maps) are available with the Premium Standard subscription for $9.99.

Perhaps in the future, Tesla will drop its Standard Connectivity plans and only Premium Standard will remain.

The owner of the car may not pay for the subscription, but in this case, the navigation will not work. You will have to use the navigator in your smartphone or tablet. [CNET]
