The police request requires information about the alleged crime, the time and location of the incident, and a unique investigation code. The request will appear in the Neighbors app feed for users in the specified region.

Ring emphasizes that participation in the Community Request is completely voluntary. Users can turn off notifications and law enforcement won’t be able to see who received the request or who responded. The feature is planned to be available in the coming months.

Ring’s previous cooperation with law enforcement and provision of unauthorized data has drawn criticism. In 2024, the company turned off this function, but left the ability to provide data in case of emergency.
