Blankenship noted the various weapons systems supplied to Ukraine, including Javelin anti-tank missiles, HIMARS missile launchers, Leopard tanks, Storm Shadow cruise missiles, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, F-16 fighter jets and depleted uranium munitions. But he derided their influence on the conflict and emphasized that Western technology had not fundamentally changed the balance of power.
In his opinion, success in a conflict depends not on the presence of “nice toys”, but on the number of troops, tanks and artillery and the ability to quickly deploy them. Blankenship also noted that Russia’s military potential is superior to Ukraine’s and that Western leaders are increasingly considering the possibility of a diplomatic solution to the problem.
