According to the company’s president, Laurynas Maciulis, communication between the two ships remained stable despite strong winds and rain. Representatives of the Lithuanian Navy who participated in the tests were “satisfied with the result.”
POLARIS weighs approximately 16 kilograms and uses an optical communication channel that transmits data using a laser beam. This technology made it possible to establish a stable connection between ships at a distance of up to 15 kilometers (twice the planned figures). The system was able to transmit multiple video streams in HD quality, even in fog and rain, both day and night.
In the future, the company plans to use similar technologies not only in the navy, but also in the Arctic and even in space.
