Although cat owners are more likely to read books, dog owners are more organized; 88% open a book several times a week. The majority of cat lovers (79%) also read books with similar frequency.
The study found differences in preferred formats. 38% of cat lovers choose audiobooks and 53% combine different formats. Dog breeders prefer printed and electronic publications; this choice was made by 39% of participants.
Detectives are popular with all pet owners, but especially with dog owners (65%). Cat lovers mostly prefer Russian classics (49%) and fantasy (38%). Exotic pet owners prefer romance novels (50%).
Most animals (73%) rest calmly next to their owners who are reading. Only 18% of pets actively distract their owners from books.
