Starting from September 1, 2025, it became possible to block spam calls in Russia at the level of mobile operators. The new feature allows users to block calls from legal entities, including advertising and service numbers.
According to a study by Edna, 43% of Russians evaluated the innovation positively. Moreover, almost half of the survey participants (44%) are not even aware of the spam call blocking feature. Approximately 17% of those currently using the feature noticed a reduction in the number of unwanted calls. But some users encountered difficulties: half of them could not receive the necessary calls, and the other half could not see the difference.
Some survey participants admitted that they were bored without constant calls: 25% said they missed mass calls and surveys, and 8% said they would no longer have anyone to attack. Another 10% plan to start a block in the near future, and 7% are still hesitant for fear of missing an important call.
After the introduction of the function, 33% of Russians believe that life has become calmer, and 15% believe that they will now be less distracted by their phone. At the same time, 22% believe that the quarantine will not affect their daily routine.
Amid restrictions, companies are looking for new ways to connect with customers. About 48% of Russians prefer to contact businesses themselves, 16% prefer SMS, 11% instant messengers and 5% email. Only 12% consider phone calls an appropriate means of communication.
Experts note that the ability to block spam requires flexibility from companies, requiring multi-channel interaction through instant messengers, social networks and push notifications to avoid losing touch with customers.
