The military has reportedly complained that 3M-made earplugs do not provide protection during exercises and battles. The company received 115,000 complaints and 120,000 administrative lawsuits were filed against the company. In this context, the manufacturer will set up a trust fund to pay $1 billion in losses and $240 million in additional costs.

“3M believes the chips are effective and safe when used correctly, but still faces an increasing number of lawsuits, including 115,000 complaints and approximately 120,000 administrative lawsuits,” 3M said in a statement.
