Mercedes continues its electrification race and has unveiled the new EQS SUV, the version of its EQS that surprised us so much last year and with which it shares a platform. The new Mercedes EQS SUV is in the same segment as the Tesla Model X and BMW iX, at least in terms of performance and price, not so much in terms of specifications.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV promises a theoretical autonomy of 600 km and is expected to hit the market at a price. $110,000 to $130,000 – depending on benefits and selected finishes. Prices, yes, before taxes and subsidies, so the total amount could be higher, at the level of direct competitors.
Two finishes and power options for the Mercedes EQS SUV
Design-wise, this new Mercedes EQS SUV is simply a larger version of the EQS, with which it shares not only the interior design but most of the trim.and the famous 56-inch Hyperscreen that runs from pillar to pillar, taking up the entire front of the dashboard. Of course: as in the other model, it is only available for the most premium versions, in any case limited to the 4MATIC version.
There will also be changes in terms of acceleration times and performance, especially due to the car’s larger volume and more than likely weight gain compared to the sedan version. However, the biggest novelty is that this Mercedes EQS SUV will include a driving mode. off-roadwith a different all-wheel drive distribution system focused on off-road driving.
In the performance section, the strategy will be similar to that of a standard EQS with two different power levels: 450+ rear wheel drive and sporty 580 4MATIC double engine.
The standard version will offer 265 kW, about 355 horsepower. For its part, the 580 4MATIC configuration produces 400 kWh when combined with a twin engine. about 536 horsepower. This version will also include the feature Torque switching provides a smooth distribution of torque between the front and rear electric motors.
