Court Bans Anonymous Tor Browser Again in Russia

About the decision that the Leninsky District Court of the city of Saratov took regarding the Tor browser, writes Interfax.

The basis for the banning of the anonymous Tor browser in Russia was a lawsuit filed by the prosecutor’s office. The department considered that the browser distributes prohibited information. The court finally satisfied the demands of the prosecutor’s office.

The court decision means that Roskomnadzor can block the Tor browser in Russia.

Previously, Roskomnadzor had already blocked the browser, it was included in the Russian registry of prohibited information. In July, Roskomnadzor lifted the block on the Tor browser following a decision by the Saratov Regional Court in May.
