In a new study, feminist couples of daughters and mothers felt better about their bodies and were less ashamed of their appearance. More importantly, the researchers did not ask the participants if they considered themselves feminists. Instead, the researchers measured support for feminism by analyzing women’s views on various issues.
Previous research has shown that negative attitudes about your appearance can lead to depression and eating disorders. This latest study shows that mothers have a huge impact on their daughters and that teenage girls will feel better if they stick to feminist values.
