The Ministry of Digital Transformation proposed to increase the period for storing information on replacement number calls from six months to one year. The agency will be in charge of storage, but operators fear additional costs for installing equipment to connect to the system.
The draft government decree, which increases the period of storage of data on calls from replacement numbers, was finalized by the Ministry of Digital Development, Kommersant got acquainted with it. To block calls from fake numbers, telecom operators will have to connect to the Roskomnadzor system and transfer information there.
The document should enter into force in 2023 and be valid for six years.
The blocking of calls and SMS messages from abroad from substitution numbers of operators is required by amendments to the law “On Communications”, which were adopted on July 2, 2021.
According to these amendments, operators must connect to the system created by Roskomnadzor and transfer the necessary information to it. In December 2021, a regulation was adopted that provides for fines of up to 1 million rubles for non-compliance with these requirements.
