The basis of electronic tattoo ink is reported to be the technology of liquid metal and carbon nanotubes that act as bioelectrodes. The image applied to the skin can be connected to an EKG or other biosensor.

Currently, the tattoo can transmit data about the patient’s heart rate and other vital signs. All this information can ultimately be interpreted to predict disease.
