Ice cream and other cold foods are not recommended for people with various diseases of the digestive system. These include reflux, gallstone disease. Also, very chilled food can cause a “cold headache” – an individual reaction to cold.
The doctor also reminded that if a person is already infected with the virus, eating ice cream will increase the course of colds or other infectious diseases.
“It is safe for healthy people, they can use cold food quite regularly. But people suffering from diseases of the digestive system should limit the use of such products. This is gastroesophageal reflux disease, for example, when stomach contents are thrown into the esophagus. Cold foods and drinks can worsen this condition. Also, cold foods with cholelithiasis are not recommended for diseases of the gallbladder. In case of digestive problems, regular consumption of cold food can cause bloating, stool deterioration,” warned Kruglova.
