Researchers from the University of Tokyo conducted a systematic review of 301 scientific papers covering 62 countries. They identified pathways linking nature to psychological well-being.

Various factors appeared to play a role. Staying in nature provides a sense of harmony, a sense of fulfillment, including needs stemming from religious or spiritual values.

Scientists also found negative factors. However, the first was determined not by nature itself, but by the actions of people anyway: well-being is badly affected by degradation or loss of existing natural areas. Second factor: We may be disturbed by insects or by birds chirping constantly outside the window.
