The Ministry of Digital Affairs welcomes the transfer of citizens’ biometrics to the “Unified Biometric System” (UBS) without their Australia. This was reported by Kommersant with reference to recommendations on a project that provides for the collection and storage of biometric data in the EBS.
The document says that the export of data on the collection and updating of biometrics in the EBS and “other information resources, improving identification and / or authentication using biometric data on biometrics” is not required.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation reported that all organizations that transmit data to the EBS must confirm this to users. The data owner may encounter the EBS and exclude its biometrics.
The ministry believes that the transfer of data to the EBS will increase the security of processing and storing biometrics in Russia.
Also in the document, the requirements for data for transmission to the EBS have been changed. If earlier it was necessary that the face “cast” also contain a voice, now only the voice or image of the face is sufficient.
Kirill Lyakhmanov, General Counsel for EBR’s intellectual property, said that this practice may result in duplicate data from different countries in the EBS, since biometrics will be collected from different sources. If information is lost, the consequences can be “catastrophic”. [Коммерсантъ]
