The US media corporation Google filed a counterclaim with the Moscow Arbitration Court against the Federal Antimonopoly Service, which at the end of July fined the company 2 billion rubles for “abusing its dominant position in the market for media services”. YouTube video hosting”.
The fact that Google intends to contest the fine was disclosed to Shopper reporters through a source familiar with the case and the details of the lawsuit.
The corresponding case file appeared on the Electronic Justice portal in the arbitration case file.
The plaintiffs’ representatives have not commented and FAS officials have not yet familiarized themselves with the documents in the case.
We remind you that back in April 2021, the antitrust service launched a campaign against the media giant for the “opacity” of content blocking (the FAS considered that Google “suddenly blocks, deletes user accounts and content on video hosting from YouTube”).
In total, in 2021, the capital’s courts considered more than 16 cases against Google.
Also in December 2021, the company was fined 7.2 billion rubles (the first turnover fine in the Russian Federation for foreign companies for not removing prohibited content), in early July 2022 – 21.077 million rubles ( at the request of Roskomnadzor, and for a repeated refusal to remove prohibited content).
And on July 26, the FAS directly fined the corporation another 2 billion rubles.
