Researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJ) have suggested that people may behave according to the social labels and expectations often associated with their names. This is reflected in their appearance, which allows others to guess names.
In the experiment, subjects were given a photograph of a person and various variants of the name. Participants chose the correct name almost 40% of the time, far exceeding the 25% chance of correct random guesses.
