Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will instruct the Ministry of Transport, Russian Railways and the Federal Tourism Agency to study the possibilities of expanding the domestic charter program for rail travel. The head of the Cabinet considers this idea “interesting”, writes Kommersant.

Authorities plan to extend air charter program to Russian Railways

Subsidies are allocated for charter air transportation within the country. According to Mishustin, more than a billion rubles are provided for subsidies in the three-year budget.

In July, Rostourism proposed to expand the support program, including regular air and rail traffic.

Russian Railways told the publication that they are working on a set of measures aimed at reducing the cost of vacations for citizens in Russia, “and are ready to discuss in detail the appointment of charter trains within the framework of requests from representatives of tourist communities. and the balance of the train schedule”.

The rail operator believes that this will increase the availability of rail transport for the population, including by reducing the cost of tourism products.
