According to representatives of Rutube, this was done so that “the majority of Russian-speaking users of the service can download the application for any device, including the iPhone.” At the same time, foreign viewers can watch videos on the web version of the service.

Recall that in early May, Rutube was the victim of a hacker attack. Then the platform restored full-fledged operation within a few weeks. Members of the Anonymous group claimed responsibility for the incident.
