In a study published in the journal Future Foods, a team from the University of Bath reviewed 43 other papers that examined plant-based alternatives to meat and milk. The analysis showed that eating plant-based meat led to weight loss and an increase in muscle mass. In addition, such “meat” may contain vitamins and antioxidants.
Experts noted that overweight patients may benefit from switching from traditional meats to plant-based meats by increasing their fiber intake while consuming fewer calories.
