Pavel Durov said that he was impressed with the recent TON wallet-name auction.
In honor of this, he announced the creation of a marketplace that sells Telegram nicknames for cryptocurrency. TON will be taken as the basis.
I’m really impressed with the success of the TON domain name/wallet auction recently. Wallet.ton sold for 215,250 Toncoins (~$260k) and Casino.ton sold for ~$244k.
If TON could achieve these results, imagine how big Telegram could be with 700 million users if we auctioned reserved usernames, groups, and channel links. Approaching millions of memorable t.me addresses like @storm or @royal, all four-letter usernames can be obtained for sale (@bank, @club, @game, @gift, etc.).
It is the creator of a new form where username holders transfer their stakeholders in secured transactions, with ownership secured in access via smart contracts introduced by NFT. Other elements of the Telegram ecosystem, including popular ones, stickers or emoticons, may later also become part of this marketplace.
When it comes to scalability and speed, TON probably has the best technology to carry out such decentralized sales. Our team can write bulletproof smart contracts for TON (since we are the ones who invented its smart contract language), so we tend to try TON as the basis for our future market.
Perhaps we will add some Web 3.0 to Telegram in the coming weeks.
