Tinnitus or tinnitus is not uncommon. Sometimes it can only occur for a while, but one in 25 people live with it for a long time. Additionally, some people hear a vibrating sound at the same time as their heartbeat. Usually such a sound is created in the human brain, but it also happens that he hears a somatic sound, that is, a sound coming from his body. Somatosound can be explained by high blood pressure.

In most cases, tinnitus is caused by damage or changes in the ear or the auditory cortex, which is responsible for hearing. This can be due to repeated exposure to loud noises or the aging of the body. Another problem is that people don’t always hear tinnitus: The truth is the brain can mask this signal until damage occurs.

Several groups of people suffer from tinnitus. These are people with hearing loss (statistics, 9 out of 10 people with tinnitus have a hearing problem), musicians, military personnel, pregnant women.

Sometimes tinnitus goes away on its own after a while. But this only applies to cases where it is associated with attending a concert. Many people have to live with such a ringing in their ears. Also, a number of studies show that it can exacerbate anxiety and depression. Also, such people often develop hyperacusis, that is, increased sensitivity to normal noise levels.

In this case, tinnitus often goes untreated. If any medication is prescribed, these are sedatives and antidepressants. Cognitive behavioral therapy can also help a person in this situation. There are other methods (at least temporarily) of getting rid of tinnitus: for example, sound therapy, stimulation of nerves and brain, stimulation of vagus nerve branches.
