Russians owe a record 1.5 trillion rubles on credit cards

In February, there were twice as many credit card applications compared to the same period last year. Credit cards have become more interesting for young people between 18 and 24 years old.

Fewer than all credit cards are issued by citizens over 55 years of age. Most credit card applications were submitted in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Samara.

In April, the average credit card limit decreased, but the demand for cards increased. At the end of April, it amounted to 65.8 thousand rubles, and this is the minimum figure since July 2020.

At the same time, the issue of “plastic” decreased to 1.7 million units compared to June, writes RIA Novosti.

The average credit card limit was also reduced by 0.8%, or 68.7 thousand rubles. The volume of new loans in this group decreased by 4.8% to RUB 115.7 billion.

Bad debt on credit cards in July continues to grow for the seventh consecutive month and reached a record 185.3 billion rubles. At the same time, the growth of such debts slowed markedly to 1.1%.

A similar situation has developed with the number of expired credit cards. At the end of last month, they amounted to 3.02 million units, an increase of 0.6% from 2.7% in June.
