Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk spoke out on his Twitter in defense of the nuclear power industry. According to the businessman, the countries are obliged to increase the production of nuclear energy and not close the nuclear power plants.
“Countries must increase nuclear energy production! [Закрытие АЭС —] This is crazy in terms of national security and environmental damage,” the billionaire wrote.
Nuclear power is a powerful renewable energy source, but many countries around the world are moving away from nuclear power plants due to safety concerns after the Chernobyl and Fukushima accidents.
Elon Musk is an active supporter of the use of atomic energy. In March of this year, in an interview with Business Insider, the businessman called not only not to close the nuclear power plants, but to open the already closed ones.
According to the businessman, atomic energy is necessary for humanity until other renewable sources are more reliable.
