American scientists have found that screening for lung cancer for three groups of the population makes sense.
The first includes people with lung cancer, the second – those who have smoked a pack a day for 30 years or more, the third – those who have smoked one pack a day or more for 20 years. and has another factor that increases the likelihood of developing lung cancer. These factors include heredity, emphysema or other lung diseases, radiation therapy, and other types of cancer.
In the early stages, doctors detect lung cancer using computed tomography. A similar method could detect a cancerous tumor the size of a grain of rice. If cancer is detected early, it can usually be treated with surgery.
