Honest Blogger Phil compared four mid-range smartphones for photo and video quality in an issue on YouTube. Among them were Xiaomi 12X, Realme 9 Pro Plus, Realme GT Neo 3 and Galaxy A53.
First of all, the presenter appreciated the work of the front, main and wide-angle cameras in video recording. Unlike everyone else, when shooting in daylight on the front camera, the Xiaomi 12X strongly illuminates the background. That is, it is not visible on the sky at all. Also, the image on it becomes lighter or darker.
Different colors are obtained when shooting video on a wide-angle camera at Full HD 30 fps on different smartphones. For example, the sun on the A53 comes out yellow, and on the others it’s closer to white. Additionally, during the day the picture itself on Samsung comes out darker than on Xiaomi. In terms of dynamic range, the Realme 9 Pro Plus is worse.
At night, Samsung shows a little worse than others when recording Full HD video on the main camera. At the same time, very dark pictures are obtained in the Xiaomi 12X and especially in the Realme GT Neo 3. Also on the Realme 9 Pro Plus shiny objects have a reddish tint.
In 4K, stabilization is bad for everyone when shooting on the main camera. However, the Xiaomi 12X shows that it is slightly better than the others in this regard.
The ultra wide-angle camera at Full HD 30fps has the smallest field of view in the 9 Pro Plus. In this mode and when using the main camera, Samsung strongly illuminates bright objects. It also turns out to be worse in terms of noise and detail.
As for the photos, the expert started by analyzing the evening, day and macro shots. Realme 9 Pro Plus did the best with its evening photos. It also illuminated the sky quite strongly.
With a wide-angle lens, evening shots were brighter and more saturated than others from Samsung. At the same time, the detailing in the photos on this smartphone is the worst.
With digital zoom (no optical zoom on any device), the 9 Pro Plus again showed itself better than the others.
Daytime photos are slightly darker on the Samsung A53. The rest of the day is very close-ups. Although it has to be said that the main camera is slightly weaker in detail on the Samsung, and the wide-angle camera is better than the others in the Xiaomi 12X.

According to the presenter, macro shots come out better than others on the Realme 9 Pro Plus.
Overall, during the day, the Realme 9 Pro Plus takes the brightest photos compared to the others. In terms of details, the Samsung A53 is slightly worse than other smartphone models.
Night photos on the Xiaomi 12X are very bright. In terms of details, everyone is more or less the same, but Samsung seems to be losing again. As for the white balance, it is consistently worse than the others on the Realme 9 Pro Plus.
In portrait photos during the day, Xiaomi emphasizes the background. Realme 9 Pro Plus does best with backgrounds. But only Xiaomi 12X has more details. In the evening, the pictures are usually poor, but better than others – on Samsung and Xiaomi.
In a selfie photo during the day, the images are so different in terms of processing and it’s hard to say which one is better. But Samsung does a pretty good job with the details. In the evening and at night, the photos are not very high quality. But 12X shows itself worse here than others. And in general, we can say that the front camera is the weakest – Xiaomi 12X.
According to the expert, it is impossible to determine a winner from Xiaomi 12X, Realme 9 Pro Plus, Realme GT Neo 3 and Galaxy A53. This is because all these smartphones take good photos and each has its own drawbacks.
