The owner of Svyaznoy received another lawsuit from Alfa-Bank due to the retailer’s debt. The bank demands 5.99 billion rubles from the Cypriot company DTSRetail, writes the Vedomosti newspaper, citing data from the archiver of arbitration cases.

In total, Svyaznoy received more than 80 lawsuits in the amount of more than 20 billion rubles.

The total amount of claims against Svyaznoy exceeded 20 billion rubles.

Svyaznoy and Merlion’s distributor are involved in the dispute as third parties.

This is not the first claim by Alfa-Bank on Svyaznoy’s debt. In July, the credit institution filed a similar lawsuit against the Russian legal entity Set Svyaznoy LLC, the trial in this case will take place on September 8. Merlion’s distributor also filed a separate lawsuit against Svyaznoy for 5.6 billion rubles.

The participants in the process did not comment on the details of the dispute to the publication.

One of Vedomosti’s sources knows that Alfa-Bank’s claim concerns a factoring operation for the purchase of Svyaznoy: the owner of the retailer, the Cypriot DTSRetail, was the guarantor and the Merlion distributor was the debtor.

According to the factoring agreement, the bank makes the payments to the supplier and the retailer already pays with the bank, explained Mikhail Burmistrov, CEO of Infoline-analytics. Thus, Merlion delivered the goods and received money from Alfa-Bank under the contract, while Svyaznoy did not pay the bank.

At the end of July, it became known about 79 lawsuits against Svyaznoy for a total of 14.3 billion rubles. All of them were presented to the company in 2022.

At the end of 2021, Svyaznoy received a record income of 105 billion rubles, with a net profit of 15.2 million rubles.
