It is reported that the choice was made in favor of the SiFive company, which is engaged in the creation of chips based on it, as well as the RISC-V architecture.

According to the company, the new high-performance spaceflight processor will use eight-core SiFive Intelligence X280 RISC-V vector cores and four additional SiFive RISC-V cores. This will provide a 100x increase in performance compared to existing solutions used by NASA.

Note that at this time there is no exact information on when the US space agency will switch to using the new architecture.
