Several Steam Deck users have voiced their complaints about the noise of the built-in fan. For example, the fan makes an annoying high-pitched noise while playing games. iFixit recently confirmed via Twitter that it wants to offer replacement models that should fix the problem.
Due to the shortcomings it will be difficult for Valve to get the same fans, which can cause the performance and associated noise level to vary drastically. Specifically, these are 50 x 10 millimeters 5V units, which are said to be relatively rare due to their unusual size.
In the demolition of iFixit, among other things, a fan of the Steam Deck appears.
In early March, iFixit told The Verge that the first replacement parts are expected in the summer. It’s not yet clear what components will be available in addition to the aforementioned fan, but Valve has already hinted in a disassembly video that fingerprints and SSDs will be offered separately, among other things.
